Did You Know: RoboCop Was Based On Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'"
It's been far too long since we've seen RoboCop in action. The original movie, deemed one of the greatest movies ever written by man and acted by robot, came out in 1987. The two sequels, came out in 1990 and '93. Can you believe it's been that long since Detroit's finest was in action? Yeah, I can too. I was surprised to find out(thanks wiki) that the sequels were in the 90s. I had assumed the whole franchise took place in the 80s. Shows what I know.
You know hasn't been gone long enough though? Journey. Thanks to Don't Stop Believin' and drunk-asses everywhere, they just won't go away. There are only 2 of the original 6 members left, so it's not like it's even the same band at this point. But that damn song still comes on every time I'm at the bar, and everyone feels the need to sing and pretend that they're from South Detroit. Sorry folks, I know a lot of people from the Detroit area, and only one of them is from South Detroit. It's all white trash there...not exactly something you want to be pretending describes you when you are trying to pick someone up at the end of a long night at the bar.
You may be curious how these two random old acts are related and why I am writing this non-sense. Well, it was recently discovered that Don't Stop Believin' was actually the inspiration for the original RoboCop movie. Just watch the video and try to tell me that this wasn't playing in the studio as they plotted out the movie.
If you thirsty for more knowledge about what South Detroit is like, I'm here to help. Someone in the great state of Michigan took the time to spoof the Pure Michigan tourism commercials with the area in mind. Yeah...I want to sing about this really loudly.
