Detroit Has Officially Seceded From The Union

I want to start by letting everyone know that I was the first to use the phrase "Detroit seceding from the union" with reference to last night's Chrysler - Importer From Detroit commercial. I used it in a message to the Steve Dahl Show last night, and it's mine dammit. I am pretty confident that it's going to swiffer the nation because it's a pretty awesome comment. Moving on. Being from Michigan, the state and the university, almost all of my 9000 facebook friends immediately posted this video with something equivalent to "Detroit, fuck yeah." That's the obvious first reaction. It's a pretty cool ad, Eminem is badass, and you get to see Detroit in a positive light for the first time in 20 years. Then the reality sets in. What I realized after a few minutes is that it's actually quite depressing. In a mere 2 minutes, they were able to show every single decent thing in the City of Detroit. Literally, with the exception of Ford Field and Comerica Park, that's all of it. It's really not a good sign when it only takes 120 seconds to display anything remotely worthwhile. Sorry, but I'll stick to Flint. At least we still admit the fact that we suck. Traitors.
