京都府庁
In contrast to Kyoto's rather brutal, Stalinist City Hall, Kyoto Prefectural Office, designed by Matsumuro Shigemitsu (1873-1937) is a classical, French-inspired building constructed in 1904.
Matsumuro was born in Kyoto and also designed the Holy Annunciation Cathedral, an Orthodox Church in the city.
Located west of the Imperial Palace, Go'o Shrine and the Garden Palace Hotel, Kyoto Prefectural Office is set in a tranquil area of tree-lined streets.
