BANKSY MAKES AN APPEARANCE ON THE SIMPSONS

Update: Banksy popped up on The Simpson again in anticipation of the 2011 Oscars. Check it here.

You know you've made it when you appear on the Simpsons, and I guess that means Banksy has officially made it. There were three references to him during the opening to last night's episode of The Simpsons, including the weekly chalkboard gag.I've been a fan of his since I found about him at the beginning of the year. For those who don't know,
Banksy is the pseudonym of a British graffiti artist, political activist and painter, whose identity is unconfirmed. His satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine irreverent dark humour with graffiti done in a distinctive stencilling technique. Such artistic works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world. ~Wikipedia

His opening couch gag was certainly one for the ages. It's not shocking that it's awesome, but I am surprised Fox let it slide.

Here are some of my favorite works by Banksy:
